About LeGuan Violin LeGuan Violin is a boutique string instrument retailer serving students, families, teachers, and professional musicians. We sell violins, cellos, bows, and related accessories through our showroom and online store. Position Summary We are hiring one skilled violinist or cellist to demonstrate instruments for our e-commerce website and digital marketing content. Applicants only need to play one of these instruments—violin or cello—at the required level; proficiency on both is not required. This is a performance-focused, on-camera position. Your playing will help online customers hear and understand the tone, projection, responsiveness, and musical character of individual instruments before making a purchase decision. This is not an orchestra or event-performance position. Most work will take place in person at our Westbury, New York showroom and recording space. Responsibilities Perform on your primary instrument—violin or cello—for professionally recorded product demonstration videos. Play standardized excerpts across multiple instruments so customers can make meaningful tone comparisons. Demonstrate different registers, dynamics, articulations, and musical styles as directed. Participate in instrument comparisons, bow comparisons, educational clips, short-form videos, livestreams, and promotional campaigns. When requested, describe an instrument's tone, projection, response, playability, and the type of player it may suit. Work with our recording and marketing team to prepare repertoire, follow simple scripts or shot lists, and complete retakes. Handle instruments and bows carefully and follow all showroom and recording procedures. Maintain a polished, professional, and approachable on-camera presence. Recordings may be published on LeGuan Violin's website, product pages, YouTube channel, social media accounts, email marketing, and paid advertising. Scope of use and any required appearance or performance release will be provided in writing. Employees will not be required to publish company content through their personal social media accounts. Schedule Part-time, approximately 8-20 hours per week depending on recording needs and availability. Flexible scheduling may be available around lessons, rehearsals, performances, and school commitments. Recording and instrument-demonstration sessions are completed in person in Westbury, New York. Occasional remote preparation may be approved, but this is not a fully remote position. All approved working time will be recorded and paid.

Compensation Guaranteed base pay:

$18.00 per hour for all hours worked.

Performance-content commission:

5% of eligible net sales of instruments whose active product pages or advertisements feature the employee's recorded performance, with a minimum commission of $20 per qualifying instrument sold. Eligible net sales exclude sales tax, shipping charges, discounts, refunds, returns, cancellations, and chargebacks. A commission becomes payable after the applicable return period and will be paid through payroll according to the written compensation plan. Commissions apply only to qualifying orders placed while the employee's performance is actively being used for the applicable product. Orders placed before removal remain eligible if they are completed and not returned. Complete attribution rules, payment timing, treatment of returns, and terms following separation from employment will be provided in a written compensation agreement. Estimated total compensation is approximately $18.00-$35.00 per hour equivalent. Base pay is guaranteed; commissions are variable and are not guaranteed. Required Qualifications Plays either violin or cello at an advanced, collegiate, conservatory, or professional level, or has equivalent performance ability. Proficiency on both instruments is not required. Strong intonation, rhythm, tone control, sight-reading, and musical preparation on the applicant's primary instrument. Able to perform consistently in a recording environment and repeat short passages when needed. Comfortable regularly performing and appearing on camera. Able to compare instruments using a consistent playing approach while still presenting each instrument naturally. Dependable, punctual, collaborative, and receptive to musical and production direction. Able to handle instruments and bows with appropriate care. Preferred Qualifications Degree or current study in music performance, music education, or a related field. Previous experience with studio recording, product demonstrations, livestreaming, or commercial video. Ability to explain musical and technical qualities in clear, customer-friendly language. Familiarity with violin-family instruments, bows, strings, setup, and tonal evaluation. Experience performing classical, popular, film, or contemporary repertoire. Comfortable giving a brief spoken product introduction in English.
