Contribute to making Southern States Material Handling a leader in the material handling industry by supporting customers through the complete forklift and equipment rental process. This role serves as the primary point of contact for rental customers, coordinating rental transactions, managing equipment availability, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience from initial inquiry through contract completion. Strong customer service and relationship-building skills Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory and documentation Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment Strong time management and organizational skills Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Experience using inventory management, database, or order entry systems Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Self-starter with a high level of accountability and initiative Positive attitude and flexibility in adapting to change Ability to quickly learn new products, processes, and technology Commitment to providing exceptional customer experiences Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus Industrial equipment rental experience is highly preferredEducation and Experience Needed:
High School Diploma or equivalent required College coursework in Business Administration or related field preferred 1-2 years of experience in customer service, logistics, equipment rental, transportation, or a related field Previous industrial equipment rental experience highly desirable Experience with order entry software preferred Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and integrityWhat You'll Do:
Serve as the primary point of contact for rental customers and manage day-to-day rental operations Process rental requests, agreements, contracts, and supporting documentation Coordinate equipment availability, deliveries, and pickups Prepare and send customer quotes for rental products and services Track and reconcile rental equipment inventory and serial numbers across branch locations Maintain accurate rental agreement records and collaborate with billing personnel Review rental billing reports for accuracy and customer account information Assist with collection efforts for past-due rental payments before escalation to Accounting Coordinate with shop personnel regarding equipment readiness, repairs, and maintenance status Provide rental progress updates to sales representatives and internal stakeholders Develop new business opportunities through customer outreach and lead follow-up Support rental department growth through prospecting and customer relationship development Maintain knowledge of rental equipment and services to identify customer solutions Communicate with customers regarding rental agreement compliance and maintenance requirements Support customer fleet reporting and equipment status updates Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the rental department Promote and support company safety policies, procedures, and values Occasionally assist with staging equipment, attachments, batteries, and other rental-related materials Occasionally operate a forklift as needed Perform additional duties assigned in support of the company's mission and growth objectives Schedule & Work Environment Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Onsite Position Reports to the Rental Manager Occasional work in shop and warehouse environments Ability to lift up to 20 pounds Ability to move throughout branch, warehouse, and office environments as needed SSMH is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
