This position will be approximately 20-25 hours per week and must be able to work at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday). We are a family owned hardware store that has been servicing Litchfield, CT and the surrounding towns since 1985. We look forward to hearing from you! Job overview : The Sales Associate will assist in stocking merchandise, help maintain a clean and orderly store presentation, maintain store cleanliness, and provide customer assistance. Register training will also be provided. See below for full job description. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Store Operations :

Ensure a positive, professional and safe work environment for employees and customers; assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise areas; initiative to learn about new products and partake in training when needed; ensure all pages and phone calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively; assist with inventory placement and store stocking and ensure it is done to company standard; assist to ensure all signage is current in the store; assist in presenting a clean and orderly sales floor including end caps and promotional areas.

Customer Service :

Demonstrate excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers on the sales floor. Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities) : Excellent verbal communication and the ability to convey information clearly and effectively; great interpersonal and customer service skills; quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities; responsible and organized; strong attention to detail and ability to multitask; great listening skills and able to take direction from individuals in higher-level positions; must be a team player!

Job Requirements :

The ability to work with cash registers and computers—a basic knowledge of retail computer systems/electronic cash registers is a plus; ability to lift at least 7 to 10lbs on a routine basis; ability to stand and walk store consistently; move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.
