Shift Hours are M-Th 6am-3pm and F 6am-12pm. We make state-of-the-art home products. Not rocket science. Just really amazing products, made really really well. As a Wood Crew Member at Shelfology, you'll take raw lumber Mother Earth has been carefully crafting for years and help turn it into furniture-quality shelves and other wooden products that end up in homes, offices, restaurants, and other good places around the world. This is a hands-on job for someone who likes the smell of fresh sawn wood, a little sawdust in your hair, solving problems, working hard, and looking at the finished product and thinking, heck ya, I was a part of making that. In the wood shop you will be: Making things from actual grade A solid hardwood. Sawing, gluing, sanding, drilling, assembling, and turning raw materials into furniture-quality products built to our specifications Using cool, but dangerous, equipment. Table saws, band saws, drill presses, sanders, and other machinery that deserves your full attention. Experience is great, but we can train the right human Working with cool, but safe, people. We take the work seriously, but have fun doing it Working to deadlines. You'll need to manage your own pace, stay focused, and police your own efforts to meet them Pulling your full load as part of a small, but close-knit team Maintaining cleanliness, order and an atmosphere of happy hustle Improving how we make things. We're always looking for smarter processes, better fixtures, better equipment, and better ways to get the job done Making stuff you're proud of. Ideally proud enough that you occasionally tell your friends you actually like your job As a person, you should: Love working with your hands and your brain at the same time Be reliable, punctual, and able to work the full scheduled shift Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines Be a team member / collaborator (not a lone wolf). Take direction well and be open to feedback, coaching, and getting better at your craft Have excellent problem-solving skills and a slightly unreasonable attention to detail Be able to juggle multiple tasks and handle clear—and sometimes very direct—instructions Notice problems and solve them instead of walking past them and assuming somebody else will Bonus points if you: Have experience running a CNC Know what woodWOP is, or geek out on learning how to program a CNC Speak both English and Spanish Can visually call out hardwood species Can't do these things yet, but are ready and willing to learn There's more, but we can fill you in on the nerdy details in person.
