The Office of Communications Media is seeking a federal aid recipient for student employment. This position will be funded by federal work study dollars; only students that receive financial aid awards can be considered. Questions? Job Summary:

To supervise and assist students and faculty working in Photography darkrooms and professional photo studio facilities within the Communications Media Department. This job involves good customer service skills, willingness to learn chemical safety and darkroom maintenance skills, ability to lift 10lbs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Controls In/Out access to CNIC350 Photography Lab - Maintains single access control to the lab complex through the main door. Final processing of black and white prints. (Instruction provided.) Breakdown and cleanup of photo chemicals. (Instruction provided.) Controls the checkout and return of lab and studio equipment. Assists students and faculty with technical problems with the lab equipment. Makes periodic rounds of the

CNCIC350

Photography Lab Complex to verify the security of equipment and to ensure the safe and proper use of equipment and chemicals. Contacts Campus Police if problems arise regarding health or safety. Prepares reports for supervisor regarding any technical problems they are unable to resolve. Informs supervisor of any safety and/or security problems. Makes sure the Photography complex is clean and secure at the end of the shift. (Checklist and training provided.) Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements:

Job training for this position is provided and is refreshed each semester. Previous experience is not required. Lab Monitors are critical line of support with the campus community and should therefore have a professional appearance, possess good interpersonal skills, have a basic working knowledge of equipment and software utilized in specific labs, be flexible and have a positive attitude. All applicants will receive full training and will be held personally responsible for all procedures covered in said training. While full training is provided, appropriate supervisors should be able to assess a situation and identify when problems are more serious and seek a direct supervisor or campus police help. They should have the judgment to shut systems down when necessary. They will be required to assist students throughout their shift. Punctuality is required. If unable to cover a shift, prior notice and/or arrangements must be made in advance.

Shift Information:

This is a student only posting and you must have Federal Work Study money allocated to you in your financial aid package. Shift will vary based on student schedules and the pay is $15 per hour. Shifts hours will be 5:00pm-10:00pm. Later in the semester an optional Saturday shift will become available.

Priority Review:

Students enrolled in Communications Media, DMI, and Game Design will have priority consideration for this job.
