In this role, you'll be one of the faces of Pathway Market—helping customers discover unique items, assisting with sales, operating our point-of-sale system, merchandising the sales floor, and helping evaluate incoming consignment inventory. Our inventory is constantly changing and includes furniture, home décor, antiques, collectibles, artwork, household goods, vintage pieces, and more. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, has an eye for quality, and isn't afraid to stay busy.

Key Responsibilities Customer Service:

Welcome customers, answer questions, assist shoppers in locating merchandise, and provide a friendly and helpful in-store experience.

Sales:

Engage with customers, learn what they are looking for, provide product information, and help turn customer interest into sales.

Consignment Intake:

Assist management with inspecting incoming merchandise for quality, condition, damage, and overall suitability based on Pathway Market's consignment standards.

Merchandising & Displays:

Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and visually appealing by tagging, arranging, hanging, staging, and rotating inventory.

Point of Sale:

Accurately and efficiently process purchases, discounts, credits, and other transactions through our retail point-of-sale system.

Inventory Control:

Monitor merchandise as it moves through its consignment period and assist with markdowns, expired inventory, and items designated for donation.

Quality Control:

Identify stains, breaks, missing pieces, excessive wear, damage, or other condition issues that could affect an item's value or ability to sell.

Store Organization:

Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the sales floor and inventory areas.

Furniture & Inventory Movement:

Assist with moving and staging merchandise using carts, dollies, and other appropriate equipment. Assist with additional store responsibilities as needed in a fast-paced and constantly changing retail environment. Qualifications & Skills Previous experience in retail, sales, customer service, consignment, resale, or hospitality is preferred. Knowledge or interest in furniture, antiques, vintage items, collectibles, home décor, brands, and resale is a plus. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with a wide variety of customers. Friendly, outgoing, and willing to approach and assist shoppers rather than waiting for customers to ask for help. Strong attention to detail and an eye for product quality and condition. Ability to identify common condition issues such as stains, damage, breaks, missing pieces, and excessive wear. Comfortable learning and operating a computerized point-of-sale and inventory system. Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Willingness to stay productive during slower customer periods by merchandising, cleaning, organizing, and processing inventory. Physical Requirements This is an active retail position.

Employees should be comfortable:

Standing and walking throughout the majority of the workday. Regularly moving throughout a large sales floor. Lifting and carrying inventory and boxes weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. Bending, reaching, and performing other activities associated with stocking and merchandising. Assisting with furniture placement and movement using appropriate carts, dollies, and equipment. We work closely with Pathway Senior Movers , helping individuals and families who are downsizing, relocating, or transitioning into senior living. Many of the items that come through our doors belonged to our moving clients. By consigning these items, we help give their belongings a second life while providing an opportunity to offset some of the costs associated with their transition. That means our inventory is constantly changing—and working here is a little different from working in a traditional retail store.
