Job Description

Canby Kiwanis Thrift Store Part-time between the hours of 9:30 AM-6:00 PM Monday-Saturday. Store closed Sundays. Hiring for 16-32 hours per week. Applicants must maintain open availability Monday-Saturday during store operating hours. About the Canby Kiwanis Thrift Store The Canby Kiwanis Thrift Store opened in 1952 and has grown to be the major source of funding for Canby Kiwanis Club's many community projects. Working together with our donors and supporters, we help the community recycle gently used items into money for programs and projects that benefit children, families and people in need. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who provide excellent customer service and take pride in working with valuable donations from our community. Applications are available at the Canby Kiwanis Thrift Store, 257 SE 1st Ave., Canby, OR, Monday-Saturday from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service :
The number one priority of all employees is to provide the best customer service possible.
Cash Register Procedures :
Follow all cash register operating procedures. Employees handle cash, charge cards, and other register transactions. They adhere to opening and closing procedures.
Pricing and Sorting :
Each employee is required to learn and follow pricing policies. Knowledge of pricing exceptions is very helpful.
Product Knowledge :
Each employee should know the location of merchandise on the sales floor, what we do and don't carry, and be aware of current in-store sales and promotions.
Stock/Rotation :
Employees stock the sales floor with priced merchandise, placing it in the proper location. Stock is rotated based on the color of the price tags.
Donation Receiving :
Employees receive donations from donors and must know what items we do and do not accept.
Selling Floor Maintenance :
Each employee works in conjunction with other staff members to make sure the selling floor is neat and clean. They organize merchandise based on the store standards for the specific department.
Safety :
Employees follow all safety procedures and rules. This includes, but is not limited to, practicing proper lifting techniques, knowing locations of emergency supplies/equipment, cleaning up after tasks, and reporting possible safety hazards.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent Cashier experience (preferred but not required) Excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Positive attitude, ability to learn new tasks and take direction Ability to stand for extended periods of time and repeatedly lift items weighing up to 40 pounds Ability to perform basic math, writing and reading tasks without supervision Pay and Benefits $15.50/hour Paid sick time Five annual paid holidays for employees regularly scheduled on the holiday 50% employee discount
