Company Overview A well-established automotive dealership in the Chandler/Gilbert area is seeking an experienced Automotive Sales Manager to join its leadership team. This is a confidential search for a results-driven sales leader who can motivate a team, improve performance, maintain strong customer satisfaction, and help drive continued dealership growth. Job Summary The Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day performance of the sales department, coaching and developing sales professionals, managing the sales process, and partnering with dealership leadership to achieve volume, profitability, and customer experience goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on automotive leader who understands dealership operations, knows how to build accountability within a sales team, and can balance strong financial performance with an exceptional customer experience. Duties Lead, coach, motivate, and develop the dealership sales team. Drive achievement of monthly sales, gross profit, and performance objectives. Assist sales professionals with deal structure, negotiations, and closing opportunities. Monitor daily traffic, leads, appointments, follow-up activity, and closing ratios. Ensure internet and CRM leads are handled promptly and effectively. Conduct sales meetings, training, and individual coaching sessions. Review inventory needs, aging units, vehicle merchandising, and sales trends. Work closely with the General Manager, Finance Department, Service Department, and other dealership leaders. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and assist with resolving escalated customer concerns. Ensure dealership policies, manufacturer standards, and applicable compliance requirements are followed. Recruit, train, retain, and develop high-performing sales professionals. Analyze department performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, profitability, and customer retention. Maintain a professional, positive, and accountable sales culture. Lead and manage the retail sales team to meet or exceed sales goals through effective coaching and motivation Develop and implement strategic sales plans to expand customer base and increase revenue Conduct employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting, and onboarding of new team members Oversee inventory management, pricing strategies, and merchandising to optimize product presentation and stock levels Supervise shift management, cash handling, POS system operations, and customer service standards Monitor operational activities including purchasing, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and inventory control Provide managerial communication and leadership to ensure smooth store operations and high team morale Qualifications Previous automotive dealership management experience required. Proven success in automotive sales and sales leadership. Strong understanding of dealership sales processes, desking, gross management, CRM usage, and lead follow-up. Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable. Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, performance-driven dealership environment. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required. Ability to successfully complete applicable pre-employment requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience with a high-volume franchised automotive dealership. Prior experience as a Sales Manager, General Sales Manager, or similar dealership leadership position. Experience working with dealership CRM, DMS, and digital retailing platforms. Strong track record of increasing sales volume, improving gross profit, and developing sales teams. Skills Strong negotiation skills with the ability to close sales effectively Proven experience in retail industry sales team management and retail management Excellent communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual proficiency preferred Demonstrated supervisory experience with a focus on training & development and team building Knowledge of POS systems, inventory management tools, and operational procedures such as cashiering and pricing Skilled in customer service excellence, phone etiquette, organizational skills, and time management Basic math proficiency for retail math calculations including budgeting and cash handling Experience in grocery store or automotive retail environments is a plus; familiarity with merchandising, stocking, and inventory control is essential. $96,000.00 - $144,000.00 per year
