Job Description

This Position is Available to
Current New Trier Students Only:
The New Trier Applied Arts Department is looking for New Trier student interns for the 2026 - 2027 school year to assist our department team with managing student projects, showcasing various projects, and developing updated design and communication information. During the internship, you'll have the opportunity to work on various phases of project design from concept through construction administration. Preferred candidates will have an interest in Architecture or Engineering or Fabrication (digital or physical).
Hours:
2-3 hours per week, flexible based on Applied Arts supervision and intern's academic schedule. Students must commit at least 1-2 hours a week during the school day and have a set schedule.
Compensation:
$15.00 per hour

Responsibilities:
Assist Applied Arts Lab Supervisor and teachers with managing projects Design and assemble displays that exhibit student projects Assist with lab inventory of supplies Assist with class lab cleanup and organization Assist with creation and design of Applied Arts communication and information
Required Skills:
Possess basic understanding of hand and power tools Possess basic troubleshooting skills Ability to work in a team environment Strong interpersonal skills Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly with staff, students, and others Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; prior experience with CAD software Ability to be resourceful and can quickly and successfully adapt to change Physical ability to move around the Applied Arts lab areas Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds Questions about this position can be sent to Jason B.
