Job Description

The Boat Sales Associate is responsible for guiding customers through the boat-buying process from initial contact through delivery. This position requires a professional, motivated, customer-focused individual who can build relationships, understand customers' boating needs, present appropriate products, and consistently achieve sales goals. The ideal candidate has a passion for boating, strong communication skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to provide an exceptional customer experience while generating profitable sales. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist customers in a professional and welcoming manner. Develop a thorough understanding of available boats, engines, accessories, features, options, and financing programs. Determine customers' boating needs, preferences, budget, and intended use. Present and demonstrate boats in a knowledgeable and enthusiastic manner. Conduct boat walk-throughs and demonstrations when appropriate. Generate new sales opportunities through showroom traffic, phone calls, internet leads, referrals, networking, boat shows, and follow-up activities. Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and leads. Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects throughout the sales process. Prepare accurate quotes, proposals, purchase agreements, and other sales documentation. Present financing, extended service contracts, accessories, and other dealership products when applicable. Negotiate professionally while protecting dealership profitability and following established pricing policies. Coordinate with management, finance, service, parts, and delivery departments to ensure a smooth customer experience. Maintain accurate customer and prospect information in the dealership CRM system. Keep customers informed regarding boat availability, ordering, production, rigging, service, and delivery schedules. Assist with boat deliveries and customer orientation as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional showroom and sales area. Participate in boat shows, promotional events, dealership events, and community activities. Stay current on industry trends, competing products, manufacturer programs, and new boat models. Meet or exceed established monthly and annual sales goals. Follow all dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and applicable laws and regulations. Qualifications Previous sales experience preferred; marine or automotive sales experience is a plus. Strong interest in boating and the marine industry. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Professional appearance and positive attitude. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Comfortable working in a commission-based sales environment. Ability to negotiate and close sales professionally. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn dealership CRM and sales systems. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to work weekends, holidays, boat shows, and special events as required. Preferred Experience Previous boat or marine dealership sales experience. Knowledge of outboard engines, inboard engines, trailers, marine electronics, and boat accessories. Experience using CRM and internet lead-management systems. Experience with financing and marine lending programs. Established relationships within the local boating community. Performance Expectations Success in this position will be measured by: New and used boat sales volume. Gross profit performance. Lead response and follow-up activity. Closing ratio. Customer satisfaction. CRM accuracy and activity. Accessory, financing, and additional product sales. Repeat and referral business. Achievement of monthly and annual sales objectives. Compensation Competitive base salary and/or commission structure, plus applicable bonuses and incentives. Physical Requirements The position may require standing, walking, climbing in and out of boats, working around docks and marinas, and occasionally lifting or moving items. The employee must be able to safely work in outdoor conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and other weather conditions common to the marine environment.
