Commercial Door & Dock Sales Representative Cox Door Company, Inc. is a family-owned and established commercial door and dock equipment company serving the Charlotte Metro area and surrounding markets. We are growing our commercial business and are looking for an experienced Commercial Door & Dock Sales Representative to join our team. This is an opportunity for an experienced industry professional who understands commercial doors and dock equipment, knows how to identify customer needs, and is motivated to build relationships and grow a territory. We are looking for someone who can operate independently, develop new business, manage existing accounts, and provide customers with the right equipment and service solutions for their facilities. The Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in commercial door, dock equipment, or a closely related trade industry , with preference given to candidates with direct commercial door and dock experience. The right person will be technically minded, organized, detail-oriented, and highly self-motivated. You should be comfortable walking into a commercial facility, understanding the customer's operation, identifying opportunities, determining the appropriate equipment, and developing a solution that meets both the customer's needs and budget. Existing relationships with facility managers, property managers, general contractors, building owners, distribution centers, warehouses, and other commercial customers are a significant plus. Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development Develop new commercial business through prospecting, networking, referrals, customer visits, and relationship development. Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers. Identify opportunities for equipment replacement, upgrades, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Visit commercial facilities and jobsites to assess customer needs and existing equipment. Develop long-term relationships with facility managers, property managers, contractors, building owners, and other decision-makers. Sell commercial door, dock equipment, service, repair, and preventative maintenance solutions. Follow opportunities from initial contact through estimating, proposal, negotiation, and close. Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently pursue new opportunities. Estimating & Technical Sales Perform jobsite and facility visits to gather measurements, application requirements, and other information necessary to develop accurate proposals. Select and specify appropriate equipment based on the customer's application. Prepare estimates, takeoffs, proposals, and submittals. Understand product specifications, available options, installation requirements, and application limitations. Work closely with our service and installation teams to ensure sold work can be properly executed. Provide customers with practical solutions rather than simply selling a product. Account Management Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned commercial customers. Identify opportunities within existing accounts for additional equipment, repairs, upgrades, and service agreements. Maintain regular communication with key customers and proactively identify upcoming needs. Develop recurring revenue opportunities through preventative maintenance and service agreements. Products & Services The successful candidate should have, or be willing to develop, a strong working knowledge of commercial door and dock equipment, including: Commercial sectional overhead doors Rolling steel doors and grilles High-speed doors Fire-rated doors Dock levelers Dock seals and shelters Vehicle restraints Dock equipment and accessories Commercial door operators Safety equipment Preventative maintenance programs Commercial door and dock repair/service You do not need to be an engineer, but you must be technically capable of understanding different applications and determining the appropriate equipment, configuration, and options to quote.
Qualifications Preferred:
5+ years of commercial door, dock equipment, loading dock, construction, industrial equipment, or related industry experience. Previous outside sales or business development experience. Established relationships within the commercial/industrial market. Experience selling commercial overhead doors, rolling steel doors, dock equipment, or related products. Ability to read and understand product specifications and construction documents. Experience preparing estimates, takeoffs, proposals, and submittals.
Required:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Highly self-motivated and able to work independently. Organized and detail-oriented. Strong problem-solving and customer-needs assessment skills. Technically minded with the ability to learn and understand a wide range of products and applications. Professional appearance and communication. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory. Territory & Travel Our primary market is the Charlotte Metro and Union County area , with our territory generally extending: North to Statesville South through Columbia, SC Throughout the greater Charlotte commercial market A company vehicle is provided for business use. Overnight travel is not typically required. Compensation This is a commission-based sales position with significant earning potential for a motivated sales professional. Our long-term compensation structure is designed around 100% commission , rewarding sales performance and results. We are also open to discussing a hybrid compensation or initial draw structure during the transition into the role, depending on the candidate's experience and background. Why Cox Door Company? Pay:
$75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
