SUMMARY The Sales Development Representative is responsible for generating new business opportunities and supporting revenue growth by identifying prospects, conducting outbound calls, qualifying leads, and developing strong customer relationships. This position works closely with customers to understand their packaging equipment, materials, and service needs; prepares quotes and proposals; follows up on sales opportunities; and coordinates with Outside Sales, Customer Service, Technical Service, and Operations. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, results-driven, comfortable with high-volume prospecting, and skilled at managing multiple opportunities through the sales process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct daily outbound prospecting through cold calls, emails, LinkedIn, and other lead generating methods. Identify and qualify potential customers in manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, logistics, and related industries. Promote packaging equipment, materials, consumables, replacement parts, technical service, and preventive-maintenance solutions. Learn each customer's packaging operation and recommend solutions based on production requirements, application needs, budget, and business goals. Prepare quotations, proposals, product information, and follow-up communications. Follow up consistently on leads, open quotations, samples, demonstrations, and pending customer decisions. Develop relationships with new customers while supporting and expanding existing accounts. Generate opportunities for outside sales representatives and coordinate customer visits or equipment demonstrations when needed. Work closely with outside sales, customer service, technical service, marketing, production, and other internal departments. Maintain accurate customer information, sales activities, opportunities, and follow-up dates in the company's CRM or sales system. Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, lead times, and services. Meet or exceed established goals for outbound activity, qualified leads, quotations, revenue, and account growth. Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback. Participate in product training, sales meetings, trade shows, and other company events as required. Perform other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
Proven experience in B2B sales, inside sales, or lead generation roles with a focus on technology or software solutions Familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce or equivalent sales management systems proficiency Demonstrated success in prospecting, cold calling, and closing deals within a remote or virtual sales environment Strong negotiation skills with the ability to handle objections confidently and professionally Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with a customer-centric approach Experience managing territories and developing account management strategies to maximize growth opportunities Ability to analyze sales data, track performance metrics, and adapt strategies accordingly for continuous improvement
COMPETENCY
Demonstrated comfort with outbound prospecting and cold calling. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to understand technical products and explain their benefits clearly to customers. Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently while contributing to a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, CRM platforms, and business software. SAP or other ERP-system experience is a plus.
