Produce Department Manager —

Monday-Friday, early morning start (approx. 5:00 AM -1:00 PM). Some weekend availability preferred. About Simply Fresh Market Simply Fresh Market is a locally owned specialty grocery and prepared foods store in Brighton, celebrating our 10th year this October. We're built on organic and local sourcing, chef-prepared original recipes, and real food our customers trust. Our produce department is the first thing people see when they walk in — and we want it to look like it. The role We're looking for a Produce Manager to own the physical, hands-on side of our produce department. You'll work early mornings alongside our owner, you will learn ordering and pricing, so you can focus on how to create a Simply Fresh experience. Displaying produce product, keeping displays full and beautiful, and making sure everything a customer touches is fresh and correctly signed. This is a great fit for someone who takes pride in physical work, notices details other people walk past, and likes seeing the results of their effort right in front of them at the end of a shift. What you'll do Receive, unload, and break down produce deliveries Build and maintain attractive, well-merchandised produce displays Keep displays fully stocked and faced throughout the morning with a strong sense of urgency through the day Rotate product properly and cull anything that doesn't meet our standards Verify signage is accurate and in place on every display Trim, clean, and prep produce for the sales floor (basic knife work) Keep the back stock area, cooler, and prep space clean and organized Assist with inventory counts and communicate shortages or quality issues Order, price and provide produce guidance to other staff members What we're looking for Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and stay on your feet for a full shift Strong attention to detail — you catch the bruised peach, the empty spot, the missing sign An eye for presentation — you care whether a display looks good, not just whether it's full Organizational skills — you keep your area clean and your work sequenced Basic knife skills — comfortable trimming and cleaning produce safely Reliable early-morning availability — our day starts before the store opens

Preferred:

Fork lift operation skill.
