Job Description

  • Purpose:
  • The Environmental Scientist is responsible for supporting environmental investigation, monitoring, and remediation projects throughout Alaska for federal and commercial clients.

This position leads the development of work plans and preparation of technical reports associated with the sampling, analysis, and evaluation of contaminants and geochemical indicators in various environmental media, including air, groundwater, surface water, marine environments, sediment, and soil. The Environmental Scientist works collaboratively with project managers, technical specialists, clients, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure environmental projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, technical standards, and project schedules.

  • Essential Functions:
  • + Plan and participate in remedial investigations, environmental monitoring, sampling, and related field activities throughout Alaska.

+ Lead and support the development of work plans, technical reports, and other environmental project deliverables.

+ Support sampling, analysis, evaluation, and reporting of contaminants and geochemical indicators in air, groundwater, surface water, marine environments, sediment, soil, and other applicable environmental media.

+ Assist in the development, production, review, and delivery of technical documents in accordance with applicable quality standards and established project schedules.

+ Support project management activities and ensure work is performed in accordance with corporate, contractual, and project-specific health and safety requirements.

+ Prepare project progress documentation, including weekly and monthly status reports and other required project updates.

+ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and subject matter experts to plan and execute environmental projects for federal and commercial clients.

+ Ensure assigned project activities comply with applicable federal, state, local, and Department of Defense (DoD) environmental laws, regulations, standards, and guidance.

+ Engage clients, regulators, project teams, and other stakeholders throughout the project decision-making process.

+ Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, environmental data, field records, and supporting materials.

+ Manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Education:
  • + Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • + 10+ years of experience performing environmental-related work on projects in government and commercial environments.

+ Experience conducting environmental field work in Alaska.

+ Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and DoD environmental laws, regulations, and guidance.

+ Experience supporting environmental investigations, monitoring, sampling, and related environmental activities.

+ Ability to prepare and contribute to technical work plans, reports, and other environmental project documentation.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with project stakeholders.

+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

+ Ability to remain focused and effective in a dynamic environment with competing priorities and deadlines.

+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

+ Current 40-hour

HAZWOPER

certification or ability to complete required training within six months of hire.
