Director of Infection Prevention & Control Catholic Health Catholic Health is seeking an experienced and visionary healthcare leader to serve as our Director of Infection Prevention & Control . This key leadership role is responsible for directing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the system-wide Infection Prevention and Control Program across Catholic Health, providing matrix oversight for all ministries. The Director will partner with executive leadership, medical staff, clinical teams, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting body standards while driving initiatives that promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and infection prevention best practices. Position Summary The Director of Infection Prevention & Control provides strategic and operational leadership for infection prevention activities throughout Catholic Health. The role is responsible for surveillance programs, infection risk reduction initiatives, regulatory compliance, policy development, staff education, outbreak management, and performance improvement efforts. This leader will oversee budget planning, staffing priorities, and the development of system-wide strategies to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the Catholic Health Infection Prevention and Control Program across all ministries. Ensure compliance with standards and regulations established by CDC, CMS, New York State Department of Health, The Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies. Direct infection surveillance, case finding, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting activities. Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and evidence-based infection prevention practices. Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, quality teams, and operational leaders to identify risks and improve patient outcomes. Lead outbreak investigation, response planning, and mitigation efforts. Provide consultation, recommendations, and education regarding infection prevention practices. Monitor emerging infectious disease trends and regulatory requirements. Lead and mentor the Infection Prevention team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and staffing plans. Support emergency preparedness planning and organizational readiness initiatives. Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership, committees, and governing bodies. QualificationsEducation Master's Degree required (MSN, MPH, Clinical Science, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Registered Dietitian, or related healthcare field) Current New York State professional license applicable to degree Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or eligibility required Experience Minimum of three (3) years of Infection Prevention/Infection Control experience in an acute care setting Minimum of five (5) years of clinical healthcare experience Minimum of three (3) years of leadership or management experience Emergency Preparedness experience preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles, epidemiology, population health, and regulatory requirements Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and driving organizational change Ability to lead cross-functional and multi-site initiatives Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting infection surveillance and quality data Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills Ability to build effective relationships with physicians, executive leadership, frontline staff, and external agencies Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Proficiency in computer applications and data management systems Valid New York State Driver's License Why Join Catholic Health?
