About DSI Dominion Sciences Initiative, LLC (DSI) is a growing Maryland-based company supporting infectious-disease research, genomics, diagnostics, biosurveillance, clinical research, advanced sensing, and federal biomedical R&D. The Position DSI is seeking a Research Assistant to provide hands-on laboratory support for infectious-disease, genomics, and biosurveillance research. You will work alongside scientists, research associates, and bioinformatics personnel supporting sample processing, microbiology, molecular biology, sequencing workflows, and scientific documentation. Responsibilities Perform microbiology and molecular-biology procedures under approved protocols. Receive, prepare, process, label, track, and store biological samples. Support nucleic-acid extraction, PCR/amplification, library preparation, and sequencing workflows. Assist with bacterial, viral, bacteriophage, and other pathogen-related research as assigned. Prepare media, reagents, buffers, and laboratory materials. Support assay-development and pathogen-detection experiments. Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, sample records, inventory, and experimental documentation. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment following approved procedures. Support quality-control, biosafety, and laboratory housekeeping activities. Assist scientists with experimental setup, data collection, troubleshooting, and research activities. Support field sample processing, training, or partner-laboratory activities when required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biology or a relevant biomedical-sciences field. At least two years of relevant microbiology experience. Practical laboratory skills and ability to follow detailed research protocols. Ability to maintain accurate laboratory and sample records. Strong organizational, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally when required. U.S. citizenship and ability to satisfy applicable Government background-investigation and access requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience with molecular biology, microbiology, nucleic-acid extraction, PCR, NGS, library preparation, bacteriophages, infectious-disease research, environmental/wastewater samples, biosurveillance, field sampling, or a DoD/federal laboratory is desirable. Compensation and Benefits The anticipated salary range is $58,000-$80,000 annually .
