Job Description:
The post-doctoral role is designed to enhance the research knowledge, skills, and practices of recent doctoral graduates, with a goal of advancing their preparation to engage in fundamental and applied research within their field. The post-doctoral associate supports, plans, and conducts original research and scholarships while working with faculty, staff, and potentially mentoring graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Toledo. The post-doctoral position carries out research in close collaboration with and primarily under the direction of Principal Investigators and faculty members at the University of Toledo. Typically, this position participates in preparation of technical reports, publications and grant proposals, and collaborates with other members of the research group. This position may also participate in instructional and training activities and in mentoring or supervising undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD, MD, or terminal degree in (specify related disciplines) Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills (in English) Ability to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary research team Ability to perform research independently and under general direction of the supervisor. Sound knowledge of best practices in research for appropriate field. Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills required Must be detail oriented, and highly organized with the ability to keep accurate records. Demonstrated strong analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in human subject research and associated regulations (if needed) Experience in animal research and associated regulations (if needed) Ability to provide general laboratory maintenance and oversee day-to-day operations. List of specialized skills required (i.e., instrumentation, laboratory techniques archival research) Must be familiar with chemical hygiene and biosafety procedures, and complete required training in such procedures (if needed).
