Summer Positions Available:
May 27, 2025-Augusut 1,2025Position Summary:
The Substitute Teacher provides on-call coverage and support in Early Head Start classrooms for regular teaching staff during absences. This role ensures a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants and toddlers in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Mississippi Child Care Licensing regulations, and MCH and MCH EHS program policies.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement developmentally appropriate practices to foster physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth in infants and toddlers. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment at all times. Follow established classroom routines and lesson plans as provided by the regular teaching staff or center manager. Assist in feeding, diapering, toileting, and napping routines that are consistent with each child's individualized needs. Interact with children in a positive and respectful manner that supports individual development. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with children, families, and staff. Document daily observations and incidents as required by program procedures. Support the implementation of classroom behavior management. Communicate effectively with the classroom teacher, Center Manager, and families as needed. Comply with all MCH and MCH EHS policies, Head Start regulations, and licensing requirements.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. CDA (Child Development Associate) credential preferred or other Early Childhood Education credentials At least 6 months of experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting preferred. Must pass all required background checks and health screenings. Current Immunization Record (121 form).Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices. Ability to adapt to various classroom settings and routines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, punctual, and flexible in scheduling.Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to frequently bend, kneel, stoop, and sit on the floor with children. Visual and auditory ability to ensure the safety and supervision of children.Job Type:
Temporary Pay:
