Job Description
Right in the heart of Big Sky's Town Center, Tips Up is where locals and visitors gather to enjoy cold beer, great cocktails, burgers and sandwiches, live music, sports on the TV's, and all kinds of games like pool, cornhole, and shuffleboard. The walls and ceiling are home to an amazing collection of skis, posters and neon signs that has to be seen to believe. Enjoy the music, enjoy the food and drinks, and have a ton of fun. The Shift Lead plays a critical role in setting the restaurant up for a smooth and successful service each day. With an earlier start than most restaurant supervisors, this position focuses heavily on opening responsibilities, service readiness, team support, and maintaining the overall flow of the restaurant throughout the day. This is a hands-on supervisory role designed to support the Front of House team, guest experience, and day-to-day operations during key daytime and early evening hours. Working closely with the General Manager and Service Manager, the Shift Lead helps ensure the restaurant is prepared for service, team members have the tools and resources they need, and guests receive genuine hospitality from open to close. Typical schedule availability for this role is flexible hours between 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Wednesday through Sunday.
Service Preparation & Ops Support:
Lead and support daily restaurant opening procedures and readiness. Ensure dining rooms, bars, patios, service stations, POS systems, and team resources are fully prepared prior to service. Support organization, cleanliness, stocking, and setup throughout the restaurant. Assist with maintaining smooth operational flow during service. Help oversee daily and weekly opening and operational checklists. Communicate proactively with managers regarding operational needs, staffing concerns, or guest issues. Support preshift preparation and team communication.Team Leadership & Support:
Lead by example through professionalism, urgency, teamwork, and hospitality. Support and encourage Front of House staff throughout shifts. Provide coaching, direction, and real-time feedback to team members when appropriate. Help foster a safe, respectful, and positive workplace culture. Communicate effectively with managers and coworkers to support smooth operations. Jump into service wherever needed to support the team and guest experience.Guest Engagement:
Ensure we are actively engaging with guests, before, during and after their experience. Help create a welcoming, energetic, and positive atmosphere for guests and team members. Actively work the floor during service to support the guest experience and assist the FOH team. Ensure service, hospitality, and cleanliness standards align with the Apres Cru Hospitality brand. Monitor the overall vibe and flow of the restaurant and assist in adjusting service priorities as needed. Support consistent table touches and guest engagement throughout service. Assist in resolving guest concerns professionally and positively.Compliance & Standards:
Support cleanliness, sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards. Help ensure operational standards and procedures are consistently followed. Maintain professionalism and accountability during all shifts. Possess a working understanding of restaurant systems and procedures.Additional Skills and Responsibilities:
Exude excellence in hospitality for all employees and guests.. Proactively communicates to General Manager and Service Manager. Excellent time management, organizational, strategic thinker and multi-tasker Ability to adapt and lead change. Analytical and organizational skills, as well the ability to define and effectively solve and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve conflicting interests with the goal of obtaining cooperation. Passion for exceptional hospitality, food, and beverages. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Self-driven, results-oriented, and possesses a solid track-record of leading high-caliber, upscale restaurants. Flexible work schedules, including nights and weekends May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects up to 50 lbs. Kneel, bend, or stoop, ascend or descend stairs; be on feet for extended amounts of timePreferred Experience:
1 year in a leadership level supervising a full-service restaurant. Proven track record supervising restaurants with a staff of more than twenty employees. Proficient in or willing to learn a variety of technology systems, including Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Gmail, Slides), POS (Toast), and Inventory systems (Craftable).
