Evaluation & Research Manager Educ-Office of Child Development - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26004470) The Evaluation and Research Team within the Office of Child Development is a multi-disciplinary unit dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through evaluation and research partnerships with both local and national nonprofit organizations. The Evaluation and Research Manager is responsible for managing the comprehensive evaluation of educational and support programs for children and families in South West Pennsylvania as part of the Evaluation and Research Team at the Office of Child Development. Collaboration, communication, and strong relationship building skills are key as successful evaluation work is dependent on robust relationships with internal and external partners. The incumbent will support the design and implementation of research, intervention, and educational development and evaluation projects and support the dissemination of research findings and program models in both academic and non-academic outlets. They will lead and manage data collection activities and craft technical reports and other documentation. The incumbent will also develop research strategies and project goals, ensure timeline adherence, and create measurement tools and protocols to be used by Evaluation Coordinators, and mentors Coordinators in evaluation techniques. The employee will be responsible for executing multi-year program evaluations, and the dissemination of findings in both academic and non-academic outlets. Other key duties include proposal writing; project development in collaboration with external partners and funders; evaluation design, oversight and creation of databases; project management; evaluation design and implementation;quantitative and qualitative data collection, data analysis; and technical report writing. Experience in quantitative research methods; statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, R or similar; and data summarization, analysis, visualization and reporting are required. Master's degree highly preferred. Leads and manages data collection activities and assists with crafting technical reports and other documentation. Develops research strategies and project goals, ensures timeline and budgetary adherence, and leads grant proposal initiate. Essential Functions Supports the design and implementation of various research, intervention, and educational development and evaluation projects. Facilitates project communication, monitors implementation activities, and prepares data assessments and measures for use and distribution. Works to disseminate research findings and program models in both academic and non-academic outlets. Leads and manages data collection activities. Coordinates data collection procedures at internal and external sites Contributes to and manages quality control checks of data collection Assists with the creation and distribution of proposals, technical reports, presentations, and manuscripts. Develops thoughtful research strategies and detailed project goals. Identifies research opportunities and devises creative approaches for research application. Monitors projects for quality and accuracy and ensures adherence to timelines and budgetary restrictions. Consults with external partners and funders throughout the project's duration. Maintains effective community relationships with agencies, faculty, and funders. - Attains project funding and leads grant proposal initiatives. - Leads and manages data collection activities, performs statistical, descriptive and exploratory analysis, integrates data into routine and crafts technical reports and other documentation. Physical Effort Use of cognitive skills and knowledge in the area of evaluation, data base development and management, statistical analysis, research methodology, and computer software. This is a sedentary job with extensive time spent working at a computer. However, travel to and from meetings in the region, state, and nation will be required based on the type of projects funded. In addition, training material and audio-visual equipment must be transported to and from trainings held outside the office.
