Category Schools - Counselor Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in education as a school counselor, supporting students with special needs. This full-time opportunity invites you to provide counseling services for special education students with IEP minutes, either onsite or virtually, through the remainder of the school year with the chance of extending through May 2027.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Valid counseling license in Alaska Master's degree in counseling or a related field is required Experience supporting students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) preferred Comfortable delivering counseling services both on-site and virtually Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Passionate about helping students develop academic, emotional, and social skills
Role Responsibilities:
Provide direct counseling services to special education students as specified within their IEPs Develop and implement individualized therapeutic interventions Partner with educators, parents, and other professionals to address student needs and monitor progress Maintain clear and confidential documentation, including progress notes, reports, and required paperwork Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the creation and review of robust student plans Foster a supportive and inclusive school environment for all learners
