Life Skills Coach - Make a Difference Every Day Are you passionate about helping individuals with special needs achieve greater independence and success? The Light House, a nonprofit in Southeastern Connecticut, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Life Skills Coach to join our DDS Day Program . At The Light House, we believe in empowering individuals with disabilities by providing engaging, person-centered support. As a Life Skills Coach, you'll be part of a collaborative and innovative team , helping individuals develop essential life skills through hands-on activities, community integration, and personalized support. Rewarding, hands-on work that directly impacts lives Full-time, Monday - Friday schedule with an 8-hour shift Collaborative, supportive work environment focused on creativity and growth Competitive pay and excellent benefits What You'll Do Provide supervision, guidance, and instruction to individuals with disabilities, including personal care, behavioral interventions, and medication administration Develop and lead engaging activities that promote independence, social skills, and community integration Ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in alignment with their support plans Provide safe transportation using Light House vehicles Maintain accurate program documentation and progress reports What We're Looking For A caring and creative self-starter with a passion for helping others Strong skills in implementing structured programs and activities Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred) Experience with learning and behavioral support is helpful Valid Connecticut driver's license with an acceptable driving record Must pass background checks and registry screenings Must have clean driving background as driving company vehicles is required. Willingness to obtain CT DDS Medication Administration Certification and a V endorsement for transporting students (if requested) Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and balance for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally Must be able to drive multi-passenger vehicles throughout the day Salary & Benefits $18.75 - $20.00 per hour , based on experience Medical, dental, and vision plans with generous employer contribution Employer-paid life and accidental death insurance 401K retirement plan with company match Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions At The Light House, we are committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity .
