The Business Services Career Developer at the American Job Center plays a crucial role in supporting job seekers in navigating the labor market. The role emphasizes innovation, effective execution, and the development and delivery of job seeker workshops. The Career Developer will work collaboratively to facilitate job clubs, enhance job seeker job readiness, and develop strategic job search plans. This position requires expert knowledge of labor market trends, in-demand career paths, and salary ranges, and aims to provide excellent services that foster job seeker success and long-term employment retention.
Key Responsibilities:
Job Seeker Workshop Development & Implementation:
Design and deliver engaging, results-driven workshops focused on career development, job search strategies, resume building, interview preparation, and soft skills.
Job Seeker Job Clubs:
Lead job seeker support groups and clubs that provide peer networking, accountability, and job readiness assistance, aimed at ensuring job seekers remain motivated and focused throughout their job search journey.
Job Search Strategy Assistance:
Guide job seekers in creating personalized job search strategies, utilizing tools and resources to identify job opportunities, assess career fit, and explore new career paths.
Labor Market Expertise:
Provide job seekers with up-to-date information on labor market trends, in-demand careers, and salary ranges to help them make informed decisions about their job search and career development. Collaborative Support for
Job Readiness & Retention:
Partner with job seekers to assess their readiness for employment, offering tailored advice on skill development, professional branding, and interview techniques, ensuring they are well-prepared for employment opportunities.
In-Demand Career Paths:
Stay informed on industry trends and labor market demands to offer strategic guidance on high-demand career paths, leveraging expert knowledge to support job seekers in targeting lucrative and sustainable job opportunities.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
Work closely with Business Services Director, Job Developer, Career Navigators, and other staff to ensure seamless service delivery and a holistic approach to job seeker success.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
Actively contribute ideas for process improvements, workshop enhancements, and service innovation to continually evolve the job seeker experience at the American Job Center.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Workforce Development, Human Services, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in workforce development, career counseling, or a related field. Previous experience in job club facilitation, workshop design, and labor market research is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong understanding of labor market information, trends, and employment statistics. Ability to develop and implement career development workshops and strategies. Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Knowledge of career assessment tools and job search resources. High level of initiative, innovation, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to stay current on emerging trends in workforce development. Empathy and patience in working with job seekers from diverse backgrounds. Pay:
$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
