HELP ENTREPRENEURS START, GROW, AND STRENGTHEN THEIR BUSINESSES
For more than 16 years, Isuroon has built something real. Founded by Somali women and rooted in community trust, Isuroon has grown into a respected nonprofit organization helping refugee, immigrant, and multicultural women and their families build stronger, healthier, and more self-sufficient lives. Economic opportunity is an important part of that work. Through Isuroon's Small Business Incubator, we help entrepreneurs develop their businesses, strengthen their financial knowledge, connect with resources, and navigate the challenges of starting and growing a small business. We're looking for a Small Business Coordinator who enjoys working directly with entrepreneurs, building relationships, and helping people turn ideas and goals into practical next steps.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Starting and growing a small business can be complicated. Entrepreneurs may need help navigating licensing, business planning, finances, marketing, funding opportunities, and other resources. The Small Business Coordinator helps make those systems easier to navigate. You'll work directly with entrepreneurs while helping coordinate Isuroon's Small Business Incubator, training and workshops, financial assistance programs, and community partnerships.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Provide one-on-one support to entrepreneurs participating in Isuroon's Small Business Incubator. Assist with business planning, licensing, budgeting, marketing, financial literacy, and other foundational business needs. Connect entrepreneurs with technical assistance, funding opportunities, and community business resources. Conduct business site visits and follow up with entrepreneurs on goals, needs, referrals, and next steps. Recruit and onboard entrepreneurs into the program. Coordinate workshops, financial education, networking opportunities, and other small-business activities. Assist with administration of microgrants and other financial assistance programs. Support participants with applications, required documentation, and program requirements. Maintain accurate participant records, program data, and financial-assistance documentation. Support grant and program reporting requirements. Conduct community outreach and participate in business and community events. Build relationships with entrepreneurs, community organizations, technical-assistance providers, and funding partners.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Entrepreneurs receive timely, practical support based on their business needs. Participants are connected to useful training, funding opportunities, technical assistance, and business resources. Workshops, program activities, and participant follow-up are well coordinated. Program records, financial-assistance documentation, and reporting are accurate and timely. Strong relationships are developed and maintained with entrepreneurs and community partners.
WHO YOU ARE
You're someone who enjoys working directly with entrepreneurs, solving problems, connecting people with resources, and helping small businesses move forward. You're organized, approachable, resourceful, and comfortable working with people at different stages of their business journey. We're looking for: Bachelor's degree in business, entrepreneurship, community development, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. One to three years of experience supporting small businesses, entrepreneurship programs, community organizations, or related work. Understanding of small-business fundamentals such as business planning, budgeting, marketing, financial literacy, or licensing. Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills. Ability to provide effective one-on-one support and coordinate group activities. Strong follow-through and attention to detail. Ability to maintain accurate participant records and program documentation. Ability to work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel. Preferred, but not required: Somali and English bilingual skills. Experience supporting immigrant, refugee, multicultural, or underserved entrepreneurs. Experience with small-business programs, microgrants, financial assistance, or entrepreneurship training. Experience working with a nonprofit or community-based organization.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works in both office and community settings and includes local travel for business site visits, meetings, outreach, networking, and community events. Some evening or weekend work may occasionally be required for workshops, events, or other program activities.
OUR CORE VALUES
Compassionate Integrity We lead with care and honesty, honoring every person's story with empathy and truth. Bridge Builders We connect cultures, communities, and systems to create understanding, opportunity, and lasting partnerships. Rooted Innovation We stay grounded in our community while developing creative, responsive solutions that help people thrive.
WHY JOIN ISUROON?
This isn't a traditional small-business support role. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with entrepreneurs, help people navigate barriers to starting and growing businesses, and connect community members with resources and opportunities that can make a meaningful difference.
