Employment Specialist Assistant Department:
Employment Services Status:
Full-Time Position Summary The Employment Specialist Assistant supports veterans participating in the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) by helping them find and maintain employment. This position will work directly with veterans and employers to connect participants with job opportunities that match their skills, interests, and career goals. The Employment Specialist Assistant will work closely with the Lead Employment Specialist to develop employer relationships and support job placement activities. Essential Duties Help veterans identify employment goals and career opportunities. Assist veterans with resumes, job applications, interviews, and job searches. Connect veterans with employers that are hiring. Assist with job fairs, hiring events, and employer meetings. Contact employers to identify available job opportunities. Help develop opportunities for job shadowing, work experience, OJT, and apprenticeships. Connect veterans with workforce programs, training opportunities, and labor unions when appropriate. Explain veterans' skills and experience to potential employers. Follow up with veterans after job interviews and placements. Complete 30-, 60-, and 90-day employment follow-ups. Help address employment concerns or barriers that may affect job retention. Maintain accurate records of employer contacts, referrals, placements, and follow-ups. Assist the Lead Employment Specialist with employer outreach and community partnerships. Assist with HVRP reports and required documentation. Attend community, workforce, and employment events as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. Experience in employment services, workforce development, human resources, or a related field preferred. Experience working with veterans preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to build positive relationships with veterans and employers. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to travel locally for employer meetings and events.
Pay:
$21.00 per hour
