Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Caregiver and Medication Assistant for the Elderly, also known as a Medical Technician. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate personal care and medication management to seniors in various care settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home care environments. Your energetic approach will ensure residents receive the highest quality of life, comfort, and safety while adhering to all healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly individuals by combining your caregiving skills with medication administration expertise. Duties Assist residents with daily personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support, ensuring dignity and respect at all times Administer prescribed medications accurately according to physician instructions while maintaining detailed medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to assess residents' health status regularly Support residents with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and hospice care by implementing tailored approaches that promote comfort and safety Follow strict protocols for medication storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with HIPAA regulations and state healthcare laws Maintain thorough medical records and documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems to ensure accurate communication among healthcare teams Perform manual handling tasks safely when assisting with resident transfers or heavy lifting while adhering to proper body mechanics and safety standards Experience Prior assisted living or senior care experience is highly preferred; experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in hospital settings is a plus Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and basic life support (CPR) techniques Familiarity with medication administration procedures, including tube feeding and catheter care Hands-on experience using EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or similar platforms for medical documentation Understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality diligently Proven ability to work effectively with geriatric patients experiencing memory loss or cognitive decline in a compassionate manner Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks associated with senior resident personal care assistance Join us in providing exceptional elder care by combining your caregiving expertise with medication management skills.
