Job Description
Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Homemaker/Caregiver to provide comprehensive support and assistance to individuals in need of personal care and daily living support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in home health, senior care, or assisted living environments, with a focus on enhancing quality of life through attentive caregiving and household management. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of clients by delivering personalized care tailored to their unique needs. Responsibilities Provide direct support with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques. Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, promptly reporting concerns to healthcare professionals. Assist with medication administration following HIPAA regulations and care plans developed by medical teams. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper food safety and sanitation standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining resident spaces. Support residents with mobility and transportation needs within the community or to medical appointments using personal transportation assistance. Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being, including memory care strategies for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Document care activities accurately while respecting residents' rights and privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for clients with neurodevelopmental disorders, developmental disabilities, or aging-related conditions. Experience Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to provide patient observation, monitor vital signs, and assist with medication administration. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care techniques, and hospice or palliative care practices. Familiarity with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and patient personal care assistance procedures. Experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or other developmental disabilities supporting their specific needs. Proficiency in performing first aid and CPR to ensure immediate response during emergencies. Strong understanding of resident's rights, confidentiality standards under HIPAA, and ethical caregiving practices. Ability to handle heavy lifting safely while maintaining manual handling protocols for client safety.
