About This Position The Economic Opportunity Case Manager provides comprehensive, client-centered case management to individuals and families seeking greater economic stability and mobility. The position helps community members identify goals, address immediate barriers, access resources, strengthen financial well-being, and pursue employment and other opportunities that support long-term household stability. Economic Opportunity Case Managers work across multiple areas of support, including public benefits and community resources, financial capability, workforce readiness, housing stability, and other services that address barriers to economic opportunity. Using a strengths-based approach, the Case Manager conducts assessments, develops individualized service plans, connects clients to appropriate resources, provides coaching and advocacy, and monitors progress toward established goals. The position requires strong case management, advocacy, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills and the ability to coordinate services across Casa Familiar programs and external community partners. Key Responsibilities Client Assessment & Case Management Conduct client intake, eligibility screening, needs assessments, and enrollment. Assess household strengths, needs, barriers, and goals related to economic and household stability. Develop individualized service plans with measurable short- and long-term goals. Provide ongoing case management, coaching, referrals, advocacy, and follow-up. Manage an assigned caseload of individuals and families, ensuring timely follow-up, service coordination, documentation, and progress toward established goals. Coordinate services across internal programs and external community resources to provide comprehensive support. Monitor client progress, identify emerging barriers, and adjust service strategies as needed. Maintain regular contact with clients based on individual needs and service plans and re-engage clients when follow-up is needed. Economic Stability & Resource Navigation Help clients identify and access public benefits, community resources, financial assistance, housing supports, and other services for which they may be eligible. Provide warm handoffs and coordinate with internal and external service providers to help clients successfully access referred services. Assist clients with navigating application, enrollment, renewal, and documentation processes. Advocate with agencies and service providers when clients experience barriers to accessing services. Support clients experiencing housing or financial instability through coordinated case management and referrals. Financial Capability & Asset Building Provide individualized financial education and coaching related to budgeting, credit, savings, debt reduction, banking, and financial goal setting. Help clients understand their financial circumstances and develop realistic strategies for improving financial stability. Connect clients to appropriate financial products, asset-building opportunities, tax-related resources, and other financial services. Facilitate financial education workshops and group learning opportunities. Workforce & Career Development Assess clients' employment goals, skills, interests, experience, and barriers to employment. Assist clients with resumes, job searches, applications, interview preparation, and employment readiness. Connect clients to employment, education, training, certification, and career advancement opportunities. Provide ongoing coaching and follow-up to support employment retention and advancement. Facilitate workforce readiness and career development workshops. Community Engagement & Partnerships Conduct community outreach to increase awareness of available economic opportunity services. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, employers, financial institutions, government agencies, and other service providers. Represent Casa Familiar at community events, resource fairs, workshops, and partner meetings. Collaborate across Casa Familiar departments to address client needs and strengthen coordinated service delivery. Documentation, Data & Compliance Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records, service plans, case notes, referrals, and outcomes in Casa Familiar's designated data systems. Track client participation, progress, service outcomes, and economic mobility indicators. Collect required information to support program evaluation, quality improvement, grant compliance, and reporting. Meet established documentation, service delivery, and performance requirements. Education & Experience High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in social services, human services, business, financial services, workforce development, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two years of experience providing case management or direct services to underserved and underrepresented communities. Experience in one or more areas such as benefits navigation, financial coaching, workforce development, housing services, community resource navigation, or economic mobility preferred. Knowledge of community resources available throughout San Diego County. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Experience using databases, client management systems, and Microsoft Office programs. Reliable transportation and valid California driver's license preferred. Qualifications Strong client-centered case management and advocacy skills. Ability to build trusting relationships with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. Strong problem-solving, coaching, and resource-navigation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, deadlines, and service needs. Strong documentation, organization, and attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, community partners, and service providers. Physical Requirements & Work Conditions This position requires sitting at a desk or workstation, walking, standing, climbing stairs, hearing, speaking, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Some driving between locations and occasional evening/weekend work may be required depending on the organizational calendar. A background check is required.
