Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Income Maintenance Supervisor. There is one position open in the Specialized Support Team (SST) Specialized Support Team - Trains new and newly promoted income maintenance staff and reviews work completed by all income maintenance staff to determine quality of work performed. Reviews records, conducts audits, compiles data to reflect policy standards and compliance trends and determines caseworker skill sets. Position Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Performs a combination of duties and responsibilities as a Specialized Income Maintenance Caseworker in one or more of the benefit program areas of Food and Nutrition Services, Family and Children's Medicaid, Medicaid for Aged and Disabled, Work First Family Assistance, Child Care Subsidy, or Energy Programs. Trains new and newly promoted staff and reviews work completed to determine quality of work performed. Reviews records, conducts audits, compiles data to reflect policy standards and compliance trends and determines caseworker skill sets. Conducts independent research and analysis of all Federal, State and Local policy and procedure development, so that data tools can be gathered and developed based upon observations and audit trends. Develops training materials and conducts training on existing and new income maintenance policies and procedures and provides one on one employee training support. Provides feedback to the IMS Supervisors regarding trainee process, additional training needs, monitoring, and reviews. Performs annual security training to meet program requirements. Provides information and communicates with outside agencies. Utilizes agency procedural guides in accomplishing work; utilizes correspondence and memoranda from State regulatory agencies in interpreting policy directives. Resolves client appeals of actions taken by Income Maintenance Caseworkers. Provides information to clients on program requirements based upon information provided in policy manuals; explains the information in a manner client with varying levels of understanding will be able to comprehend. Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member. Performs related work as required. Qualifications Excellent knowledge of computer programs to include data entry into a database and word processing Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills Ability to document work and interact with clients in a clear and concise manner Ability to conduct thorough interviews and investigations of clients Ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate documents from a multitude of sources. Ability to manage and work independently and with a team Maintain effective and efficient organizational processes Multi-task and have ability to prioritize workload. Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with clients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures Considerable knowledge of Economic Services program/areas of assignment. Thorough knowledge of all agency services. Education, Experience, and Special Requirements High school diploma or GED Associates/Technical degree preferred Moderate experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations. Regular Onslow County employees have the ability to participate in a wide array of employee benefits including: Health Insurance Health Insurance is provided by BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina and covers a wide variety of healthcare services. Dental Insurance Dental insurance is provided by Delta Dental to full-time employees and covers a percentage of basic to major dental procedures, including orthodontia for children and adults. Vision Insurance Vision insurance is provided by MetLife to full-time employees and covers a variety of materials (contacts and glasses frames/lenses) and an annual eye exam. North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the retirement system and must contribute 6% of their gross salary each pay period. Once eligibility requirements are met, employees will be able to receive monthly payments for life based on their salary, age, and years of service credit. NC401k The County contributes 1% of employees' gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee's deferral amount. In addition, the County matches employee deferrals up to an additional 4%. Vacation Leave Regular full-time employees earn 13.5 days of vacation leave per year. With each 5-year increment of employment, vacation accrual increases. Sick Leave Regular full-time employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year. Paid Holidays County employees receive paid holidays annually. The Board of County Commissioners approves and may adjust the schedule as deemed necessary. ComPsych Mental Health Services The County provides Mental Health and Life Services through ComPsych to help employees and their families with personal, family and job-related problems such as counseling, crisis support, work-life resources, legal and financial consultations, and organizational support tools.
