Through education, community outreach, volunteer engagement, and strategic partnerships, WBHI works to improve health outcomes throughout South Florida. About the Role The Women's Breast & Heart Initiative is seeking a Community Outreach & University Relations Coordinator to strengthen our relationships with colleges, universities, students, volunteers, and community partners throughout South Florida. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, engaging with students and community members, speaking in front of groups, and coordinating programs and events from planning through execution. The Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact for university partners and help grow student participation, volunteer engagement, and WBHI's community outreach efforts.
Primary Responsibilities University Relations:
Build and maintain relationships with colleges and universities, including professors and student organizations.
Student Engagement:
Develop and maintain meaningful engagement with college students and student organizations. Coordinate student participation in WBHI programs and support student-led health initiatives and campus activities.
Public Speaking & Presentations:
Deliver engaging health education presentations, program orientations, and informational sessions to small and large groups of students, volunteers, and community members.
Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination:
Recruit, communicate with, schedule, and support student and community volunteers for WBHI programs, outreach campaigns, and events.
Community Outreach:
Identify and support opportunities to expand WBHI's presence and participation within universities and the broader South Florida community.
Program Coordination:
Coordinate program communications, schedules, participation tracking, follow-up, and administrative activities associated with assigned outreach initiatives.
Event Coordination:
Assist with event preparation, materials, volunteer coordination, setup, and on-site execution of community health and outreach initiatives.
Relationship Management:
Maintain regular communication with university and community partners to strengthen existing relationships and identify opportunities for increased participation.
Data & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of university partnerships, student and volunteer participation, outreach activities, and program outcomes using organizational systems and databases. Support additional WBHI programs, events, and community initiatives as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in community outreach, university or student engagement, volunteer coordination, nonprofit programs, public health, education, event coordination, or a related field. Demonstrated experience engaging and working with college students, student organizations, university partners, volunteers, or community groups. Experience delivering presentations, facilitating informational sessions, or speaking to small and large groups. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace. Experience with Salesforce or another CRM/database system is preferred but not required. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends based on scheduled programs and community events. Ability to travel locally throughout South Florida for university meetings, presentations, programs, and events.
