We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Assistant , (AMFT) Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Or (ASW) Social Work Assistant to provide comprehensive mental health support to the elderly population. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by seniors and possess a strong background in mental health, with a particular focus on severe mental health issues that may include experiences of homelessness, substance use, and trauma. As a Psychological Associate, you will work under the supervision of a licensed psychologist to assess, diagnose, and treat elderly individuals with severe mental health conditions.Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct psychological assessments using appropriate diagnostic tools and using learned skills to practice differential diagnosis among this population. 2. Assist in the formulation of individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising psychologist, incorporating a multi-faceted approach to interventions and treatment tailored to the specific needs of each patient. 3. Provide psychoeducation and counseling to low-functioning, elderly patients; offering guidance and support to help them cope with symptoms of severe mental health issues and the challenges that can come with living in a residential setting. 4. Conduct individual therapy sessions, implementing various therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing, aimed at improving symptoms that impact daily life. 5. Monitor and track patient progress over time, adjusting treatment strategies as needed to ensure optimal clinical outcomes. 6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment plans, adhering to relevant legal and ethical guidelines. 7. Stay abreast of advancements in the field of geriatric mental health and severe mental health conditions. 8. Promote a culture of empathy, respect, and dignity in all interactions with elderly patients and their support systems.Qualifications:
- Completed a Master's degree in psychology, MFT or social work and is an admitted candidate for a doctoral degree in the field of those studies OR have completed a doctoral degree in the field of psychology or previously mentioned prerequisites.
- Knowledge and understanding of the unique mental health challenges faced by the elderly population and lower-functioning individuals, including but not limited to dementia, depression, anxiety, and psychosis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and staff.
- Strong professional ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development, staying updated with the latest research and best practices in the field.
