Job Description

JOB DEFINITION
Work with the CN Guidance Youth ACT Team to deliver services to those individuals and their identified families who are diagnosed with severe emotional disturbance (SED) and whose needs have not been met by more traditional service delivery approaches.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma preferred. A provisional credential recognized by the Office of Mental Health and receive specialized training and supervision preferred, or required to be acquired within 6 months of employment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Parent or Caregiver who has lived experience with the challenges of raising (or has raised) a child with serious mental health concerns and is personally familiar with the associated challenges and available community resources.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a role model for recipients and/or their identified families Educate recipients and/or their identified families about self-help techniques and self-help group processes. Teach effective coping strategies to recipients based upon personal experience. Teach symptom management skills and assist in clarifying rehabilitation and recovery goals. Assist families with developing community connections and naturals supports to enhance the quality of life by integration and support for families in their own communities as well as helping the family to rediscover and reconnect to natural supports already present in their lives Helps the family learn and practice strategies to support their child's positive behavior assisting the family to implement strategies recommended by clinicians Provides individual or group parent skill development related to the behavioral health needs of the child (i.e., training on special needs parenting skills). Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed. Ability to cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views and experiences. Include any relevant knowledge or experience regarding health and safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Assist and coordinate in planning for community integration trips with Youth ACT Recipients Other duties as assigned.
