Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

Job Description

Qualifications AAS Degree in Human Services or Related Discipline Previous experience in community advocacy or social services preferred Bilingual Language Abilities a plus, English/Spanish Responsibilities/Duties Advocate for and work with Head Start families in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards. Work with the parents of the Head Start enrolled children to strengthen the family's knowledge of community resources and link families with appropriate agencies and services. Terms of Employment Conditions of Employment Luzerne County Head Start, Inc. requires staff to possess current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations. Proof of Degree/Certification and Experience Required to meet the Qualifications for position. Location, Hours & Salary

  • August-June annually , with an established summer break between school years Positions are Full Time, 37.

Rate of Pay:
$18.92/hr Base Salary For those who possess Bilingual Abilities (Eng/Spanish)
  • 5% additional pay $750 Sign-On Bonus Fringe Benefits Package

WORK SCHEDULE
  • August thru June, with an established summer break in employment between school years PAID Life Insurance (1x annual salary) PAID Long Term Disability Insurance PAID Sick Time
  • Accrues up to 65 working days PAID Personal Time
  • 3 days/year PAID Vacation Time for 12 month position PAID Holidays immediately
