Overview Join our dynamic mental health team as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor/Therapist, where you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive psychological support and therapeutic services to diverse populations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize evidence-based practices, including psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and behavioral management techniques. You will work in a collaborative environment dedicated to improving mental health outcomes through innovative treatment planning, clinical documentation, and client-centered care. Your expertise will help foster resilience and recovery for individuals across various age groups and backgrounds. Duties Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-10 coding standards to develop personalized treatment plans. Provide individual, group, family, and child/youth therapy sessions employing evidence-based practices such as psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and trauma-focused approaches. Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure immediate safety and stabilization for clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies. Deliver telehealth therapy sessions using HIPAA-compliant platforms while maintaining high standards of clinical documentation and medical records accuracy. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts, support patients with co-occurring disorders, and facilitate seamless patient care transitions. Utilize EMR/EHR systems for detailed clinical documentation, treatment planning, progress notes, and medical terminology adherence in compliance with clinical ethical guidelines. Engage in ongoing clinical research and data collection to refine treatment approaches and contribute to best practices within behavioral health services. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC/LMSW or equivalent) with Iowa-specific licensing requirements fulfilled. Proven experience working with children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, addiction counseling, grief counseling, and behavior management techniques. Experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders and managing complex cases involving PTSD care or chronic pain counseling. Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and clinical documentation standards aligned with HIPAA regulations. Excellent communication skills for client engagement, intake procedures, social work collaboration, and patient assessment. Competence in telehealth platforms and experience delivering remote mental health services effectively. Ability to handle crisis situations efficiently while demonstrating empathy and professionalism in high-pressure environments such as inpatient or outpatient settings.
