This counseling position is responsible for providing substance use disorder and or mental health services in an outpatient counseling setting to corrections involved clients. This includes substance use and or mental health assessment, diagnosis, and provision of treatment services in a positive , collegial environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system in person and via web-based technology when deemed by appropriate by referring agency and Reentry Resources Counseling.
• Complete written substance use disorder and or mental health assessments including diagnostic impressions and recommendations.
• Provide individual counseling services utilizing a cognitive behavioral model of treatment.
• Maintain routine documentation including treatment plans, chart notes and discharge summaries in accordance with clinical policies for reporting and record keeping.
• Maintain collateral contacts with corrections and probation referents.
• Regularly attend scheduled Reentry Resources Counseling Peer Collaboration sessions, clinical supervision and required training to ensure continuum and quality of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have Master Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (MLADC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) accreditation in the State of New Hampshire. A degree in human services is preferred.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and awareness with corrections referred clients.
• Ability to prepare and maintain required documentation.
• Ability to comply with internal, local, state, and federal regulations and policies.
• Ability to work and communicate with others both via telephone, email and text.
• Ability to use an online meeting platform and be able and willing to learn about technology as necessary.
• Ability to work remotely as needed.

• Provide substance use disorder and or mental health assessment and differential diagnosis of substance use disorders, acute and chronic major mental disorder diagnoses, adjustment disorders, as well as co-occurring disorders.
• Promote follow up with prescribed treatment recommendations, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), self-help, mutual help and post custody follow up in a positive environment.
• Demonstrate appropriate boundaries between self, clients (defendants and offenders).
• Demonstrate appreciation of the differing roles and ability to collaborate with probation, corrections and halfway house staff.
• Utilize gender sensitive practices.
