Professional Position Summary:
We are seeking qualified applicants to serve as per diem Counselors in the Student Health and Counseling Center. The Center is an integral part of the college community, providing both clinical and educational health services. The per diem Counselor position will maintain an active caseload, conduct intake assessments, provide individual and relationship counseling, provide crisis intervention, and make referrals to appropriate agencies when needed. The position also includes maintaining current clinical files and conducting family consultations when warranted. The counselor will work variable office hours, including evenings and weekends, based on departmental needs. The work obligation for this position will be an average of 10 hours per week. Conducting variable office hours; maintaining an active caseload; conducting intake assessments; making referrals to appropriate agencies if warranted; conducting individual and group therapy; maintaining current files; providing crisis intervention; conducting family consultations when warranted; acting as consultant to faculty & staff; acting as a primary care providers regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and management of difficult and complex cases; rendering judgments concerning the management of difficult cases within area of expertise; acting as a liaison with local Mental Health professionals and agencies; maintaining working relationships with local psychiatrists, and related professionals, for the treatment and/or referral of particular cases when warranted; participating in clinical meetings.
