In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health and addiction counseling services, utilizing evidence-based practices to support individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your expertise will help clients achieve recovery goals, improve their overall well-being, and foster resilience within diverse community settings. Duties Conduct thorough client assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria, to determine treatment needs and develop personalized care plans. Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices to promote recovery. Facilitate crisis intervention strategies to manage acute mental health or substance use emergencies effectively while maintaining client safety. Collaborate with clients' families and support systems through child & family counseling and home & community care initiatives to reinforce treatment outcomes. Maintain accurate, detailed clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards, medical documentation protocols, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR management). Engage in case management activities, including client intake, treatment planning, progress tracking, and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. Participate in ongoing research efforts and data collection to enhance clinical practices and contribute to the advancement of addiction medicine and behavioral health knowledge. Skills Proven expertise in psychotherapy techniques such as behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing. Strong experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, including PTSD care. Skilled in crisis management, crisis intervention, and crisis management protocols for diverse populations. Proficient in clinical documentation standards, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD coding), CPT coding, and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA regulations. Ability to conduct comprehensive client assessments in therapy settings using DSM-5 criteria; experience with diagnostic evaluation is essential. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for patient care documentation and medical records management. Excellent communication skills for client engagement, case management, group therapy facilitation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Cultural competency working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; sensitivity to cultural differences enhances therapeutic rapport.
