THIS POSTING IS FOR A TEMPORARY STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT SPECIALIST POSITION

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Work with Lake Stevens School District students, teachers, families, Drug and Alcohol Intervention Specialist, school counselors, Guidance Teams, and student/family's outside providers for the delivery of education and support for students experiencing behavioral health concerns. This will include screening for student behavioral health needs, providing appropriate referrals, providing trainings relevant to the student population, participating in school intervention teams, developing functional behavior assessments and behavior support plans for target students, and providing group/individual support for students and families.
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT SPECIALIST JOB TERMS
Demonstrated ability to lead teams or committees Ability to set goals and timelines and modify such as needed Ability to interact positively with administration, colleagues, other staff, state officials and the public Mental Health Professional {

} with independent Washington State mental health license (Mental Health Counselor [

], Marriage and Family Therapist [

], and/or Clinical Social Worker [
WAC 246-809-320
], with certification as "Children's Mental Health Specialist" preferred or equivalent experience. Public education experience is highly desired for this position. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, intervene responsibly, and constructively manage crisis and high stress situations. Knowledge of and ability to implement individual, group, crisis support/consultation practices and procedures. Ability to implement effective strategies to manage and change student behavior. Knowledge of and ability to implement Evidence-Based Programs and practices for high risk/emotionally and behaviorally challenged students. Effective team processing, leadership and decision making skills.
