A Nanny or Babysitter provides care for children in their homes. Stays with children on a regular basis or for occasional day or evening times, or works full time; may live with a family.
The schedule is Monday through Thursdays from 9:00 or 9:30 am to 5:30 or 6:00 pm in Mountain View. On Fridays, the Nanny will either: 1) work a shorter schedule providing childcare in Watsonville, with paid mileage and commute time; or 2) work a shorter or full-day schedule in Mountain View, assisting with family assistant responsibilities (no childcare required). Family greatly appreciates a Candidate who can be flexible with their schedule with advance notice.

Duties:
The childcare duties including providing attentive, loving, and developmentally appropriate care; engaging child in enriching play and activities such as reading, crafts, sensory play, educational activities, library visits, parks, outdoor play, and play dates; supporting developmental milestones and helping child prepare for preschool; supporting potty training and encouraging independence in dressing, hygiene, and self-care; preparing healthy meals and snacks; and cleaning up after meals and activities. When the child begins attending preschool in the future, additional duties will include getting child ready for school, packing lunch and snacks, transportation to and from preschool, and parent-participation if applicable. The household duties include light housekeeping, such as washing dishes, loading and unloading dishwasher, taking out trash and recycling as needed, emptying diaper pail, and organizing and tidying child's areas and common areas; child's laundry; running household errands, including grocery shopping, returns, and exchanges; taking vehicles for fueling and washing; and additional duties when family is traveling, such as bringing in mail, watering plants, setting out trash bins, and coordinating access for cleaners.
Requirements:
The ideal Candidate possess a college degree, ideally with coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, alongside at least 3 years of professional experience with toddlers or preschool-aged children and a strong background in child development. Applicants must have up-to-date vaccinations, maintain an excellent driving record, have a reliable personal vehicle for transportation, and be physically able to lift around 35 pounds and keep up with an active child. The position requires a candidate who aligns with respectful, relationship-based caregiving principles—drawing from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and RIE philosophies—while demonstrating physical activity, strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a proactive mindset. Candidates must be willing to travel between Mountain View and Watsonville, comfortably work alongside a hybrid work-from-home parent, complete light family assistant and household tasks, adhere to strict illness prevention protocols, and maintain full engagement without personal phone use during active care hours.
Salary range:
$38 - $45
Benefits:
This position offers paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement while working (and including miles driven to and from Watsonville, as well as commute time), a monthly health insurance contribution if applicable, and guaranteed pay 52 weeks per year. The family will be withholding taxes and using a payroll resource.
