October 2026 Little Sprouts Childcare is a new early childhood center opening on the Mill Street Market campus. We are seeking an experienced, compassionate leader to help launch the program and oversee daily operations. The Childcare Director will lead licensing preparation, staff recruitment and supervision, enrollment, family communication, classroom quality, and regulatory compliance. This is an opportunity to build a high-quality childcare program from the ground up. Responsibilities Lead startup, licensing, and daily operations Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff Maintain compliance with Michigan childcare licensing requirements Oversee enrollment, staffing ratios, records, and family communication Support safe, nurturing, play-based classrooms Develop policies, procedures, emergency plans, and operating systems Manage program purchasing, reporting, and budget responsibilities Collaborate with the Mill Street Market campus team and community partners Qualifications Candidates must meet Michigan licensing requirements for a childcare center program director.
Preferred qualifications include:
Degree or approved credential in early childhood education, child development, education, or a related field Leadership experience in a licensed childcare or early childhood setting Knowledge of licensing, staffing ratios, health and safety, and program administration Strong communication, organization, and team leadership skills Experience opening a new center or developing programs is a plus The selected candidate must complete all required background checks, training, and health documentation. Compensation and Benefits Compensation is based on qualifications and experience.
