Job Description
Overview A warm, busy, and active family in Tribeca is seeking an exceptional weekend nanny to join our team and help care for three wonderful girls, ages 2, 3, and 5. This is an ideal opportunity for a highly experienced nanny who is equally comfortable providing hands-on childcare and taking ownership of the organization and smooth operation of a busy household. You will work closely with another nanny and coordinate with weekday staff and other household employees. This position is primarily a weekend role, generally 7:00 AM-7:00 PM, with overnight stays as needed. The family sometimes travels during the week and may occasionally swap responsibilities with weekday staff, so flexibility is essential. The ideal candidate should not have a separate weekday job that would prevent them from being available when the family's schedule changes. Overnights will be required on some Friday and Saturday nights, either in NYC or at the family's country home. During the summer, the position becomes live-in, and the nanny will accompany the family on some of their extended vacations. The family travels frequently, including 2-3 extended international or domestic trips each year of approximately two weeks, as well as additional travel during the week. The ideal candidate is therefore highly flexible and genuinely enjoys traveling with a family. Responsibilities Providing loving, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care for three girls, ages 2, 3, and 5 Supporting the children's emotional, social, and academic development Planning and coordinating activities, playdates, extracurriculars, and children's events Driving the children safely to and from school, activities, playdates, and appointments Coordinating schedules and responsibilities with other nannies and household staff Helping manage and organize the household alongside the family and other staff Taking initiative to identify what needs to be done and proactively making things better Children's laundry, ironing, and wardrobe organization Light housekeeping and keeping children's spaces organized and orderly Preparing meals and snacks for the children Helping with school-related logistics, calendars, packing, and daily routines Supporting the family during busy periods and travel Sleeping over on some Friday and Saturday nights, either at the NYC home or country house Traveling domestically and internationally with the family as needed During the summer, living with the family and being available for the family's summer schedule Qualifications The right person will be a trusted, long-term member of the household team- someone who loves children, notices what needs to be done, communicates well, and takes pride in keeping a busy family organized and running smoothly. A calm, confident, capable presence in a busy household The ability to take direction and feedback graciously and implement it quickly Confidence following established systems while also being proactive about improving them Strong communication and teamwork skills The maturity and judgment to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Flexibility around schedules, travel, and occasional changes in plans A genuine love of children and enthusiasm for being part of a family environment Requirements 7+ years of professional nanny experience, ideally with significant house manager experience Previous experience in a similar nanny role with a high-functioning, busy household Extensive experience caring for toddlers and young children Strong understanding of young children's emotional, developmental, and educational needs A valid U.S. driver's license and excellent driving record A U.S. passport and ability to travel internationally Excellent English communication skills Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities
