Position Summary The School-Age Child Care Group Leader supports the daily delivery of Ramapo for Children's before- and after-school programs. Working under the direction of the SACC Site Supervisor, the Group Leader helps create a safe, structured, engaging, and inclusive environment where children can build relationships, complete homework, participate in activities, and develop social-emotional skills. Essential Responsibilities Provide active supervision of children at all times and follow program procedures for safety, transitions, attendance, and security. Support the planning and facilitation of age-appropriate recreational, enrichment, craft, and group activities. Assist children with homework and provide encouragement and appropriate academic support. Prepare and supervise snack service, including set-up, clean-up, and required sanitation practices. Set up, organize, and put away materials, supplies, and equipment used for activities. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, including playground time. Use positive behavior-support and group-management practices consistent with the Ramapo Approach and program expectations. Maintain clean and sanitary program spaces by cleaning tables, chairs, toys, materials, and floors as assigned. Follow all sign-in/sign-out, building access, emergency, and child-release procedures. Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, colleagues, school personnel, and community members. Participate in required staff meetings, training, and professional development. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality and follow established procedures for reporting absences or lateness. Adapt to changing program needs and responsibilities and contribute positively to the staff team. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have formal supervisory responsibility Qualifications Demonstrated ability to work effectively with school-age children. Ability to maintain appropriate supervision and respond calmly and effectively in a youth-program setting. Strong communication, teamwork, reliability, and judgment. Ability to meet all background checks, training, certification, and other requirements applicable to the programs. Prior experience in child care, after-school programming, education, recreation, camp, or youth development. Experience supporting children with a range of social, emotional, behavioral, or learning needs. Physical & Work Environment Work is performed in a school-age child care setting and may include classrooms, cafeterias, gyms, playgrounds, and other indoor and outdoor spaces.
