127 Learning Center is a new Christian-based early learning center serving children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K (approximately 5 years old). Our mission is to provide children with a strong foundation in faith, academics, character, confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning . Our educational approach combines Christian learning with a STREAM-based curriculum , early literacy and phonics, math, science and discovery, critical thinking, social-emotional development, motor development, and kindergarten readiness. We are seeking an experienced, highly capable Program Director who is excited about helping build and grow a high-quality Christian early learning center from the ground up. The Leadership Opportunity The Program Director will work directly with the President/Owner and serve as the primary leader responsible for the center's day-to-day program operations. We need a Director who can take ownership, lead staff, solve problems, maintain licensing readiness, support families, and keep daily operations running effectively without requiring the President/Owner to manage routine center matters. The Director will have meaningful leadership autonomy while also receiving direct support and partnership from ownership. Key Responsibilities Center Operations & Educational Leadership Lead day-to-day center and program operations. Oversee implementation of the center's Christian educational approach and STREAM-based curriculum. Monitor classroom quality and developmentally appropriate instruction. Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios, supervision, classroom coverage, and staffing. Maintain a safe, nurturing, structured, and academically strong environment. Provide hands-on leadership and classroom support when needed. Staff Leadership Recruit, interview, onboard, supervise, coach, and evaluate teaching staff. Manage staff schedules and classroom assignments. Establish clear expectations for professionalism, accountability, and classroom quality. Address staffing and performance concerns appropriately. Develop and retain a strong, dependable teaching team. Enrollment, Families & Growth Conduct prospective-family tours and follow up with enrollment leads. Help convert inquiries and tours into enrollments. Build strong relationships with enrolled families and support retention. Participate in open houses, community outreach, and enrollment activities. Build relationships with local churches, employers, military families, and community organizations. Work with ownership toward enrollment and occupancy goals. Licensing & Compliance Maintain compliance with Virginia Department of Education child day center requirements. Monitor staff qualifications, ratios, records, health and safety practices, supervision, and program requirements. Assist the President/Owner with licensing documentation and center readiness. Prepare staff, classrooms, and records for licensing inspections. Participate in licensing visits and promptly address program-related compliance concerns. Required Virginia Program Director Qualifications Applicants must be at least 21 years old and meet at least ONE Virginia Program Director qualification pathway under 8VAC20-780-190 : Graduate degree in a child-related field and at least 6 months of programmatic experience ; OR Endorsement or bachelor's degree in a child-related field and at least 1 year of programmatic experience ; OR At least 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit , including 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours in child-related subjects , and at least 1 year of programmatic experience ; OR At least 2 years of programmatic experience, including 1 year in a staff supervisory capacity , plus a one-year early childhood certificate, CDA, or Montessori certificate . Candidates without qualifying management experience must also satisfy Virginia's applicable Program Director management education/training requirement. Applicants must be prepared to provide documentation demonstrating that they meet the applicable Virginia qualification pathway. Experience Requirements Childcare experience is a MUST. Childcare Director experience is a
MUST. CPR
& First Aid certification required. Must be able to successfully clear all required background checks. Experience working in a Virginia licensed child day center is strongly preferred. Experience with VDOE licensing, inspections, compliance, ratios, staff records, and health and safety requirements is strongly preferred. Strong experience supervising, scheduling, coaching, and holding staff accountable. Experience recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retaining qualified teachers. Experience supporting enrollment growth, family tours, parent relationships, and retention . Bilingual skills preferred, but not required. We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, professional, confident, solution-oriented, and capable of independently managing day-to-day center operations. Candidates who live within a reasonable commuting distance and can reliably report to the center each workday are strongly preferred.
