Summary of Position The Pastoral Resident will assist the Senior Pastor with the broader responsibilities of pastoral ministry, church administration, ministry planning, and structuring systems to advance the mission of Cloud's Creek Baptist Church. The position is designed to complement the Senior Pastor's leadership by helping turn the church's vision and ministry priorities into organized, effective action. The purpose of this division is not simply to transfer tasks from the Senior Pastor to the Pastoral Resident, but to enable each person to focus on areas where they can serve the church most effectively while providing the Pastoral Resident with meaningful opportunities for ministry development. This is not designed to be a permanent role for one person. This role is designed to train up leaders exploring a call to vocational ministry. As such, this position will be limited to a term of no longer than 4 years. Qualifications and Requirements ♢ An authentic, growing follower of Jesus Christ with a demonstrated lifestyle of obedience. ♢ Have or in pursuit of theological education and ministry training. ♢ A clear calling and Passion for church leadership, organizational health, and mission execution. ♢ Strong Alignment with CCBC's mission, vision, values, and philosophy of ministry. ♢ Exceptional organizational, relational, and communication skills. ♢ Ability to assess, design, and lead systems and processes with clarity, accountability, and excellence. ♢ Capacity to lead through change with wisdom and conviction. ♢ Must be or become an active member of Cloud's Creek Baptist Church ♢ Proficient in technology and computer usage. ♢ Ability to maintain discretion and keep sensitive information confidential. Responsibilities Vision Execution & Strategy Alignment ♢ Partner with the Senior Pastor to execute and protect the mission, vision, and values of the church. ♢ Ensure Church strategy is clearly defined, aligned, and executed across all ministries. ♢ Translate vision into actionable plans, timelines, and measurable outcomes. Operational Leadership & Systems ♢ Oversee church-wide systems, structures, and rhythms that support ministry effectiveness and sustainability. ♢ Assist Senior Pastor in planning, evaluation, and performance conversations with strategy leaders. ♢ Ensure ministries operate with clarity, consistency, and excellence. ♢ Identify and remove organizational bottlenecks that hinder mission progress. ♢ Ensure timely, clear communication across teams and ministries. Senior Pastor Support ♢ Act as a trusted advisor and prayer partner to the Senior Pastor. ♢ Protect the Senior Pastor's focus by handling operational details and follow-through. ♢ Step in as needed to represent the Senior Pastor in leadership contexts. ♢ All other duties as prescribed by the senior pastor. Ministry Apprenticeship & Formation ♢ Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor for ministry coaching and development. ♢ Observe and participate in various aspects of pastoral ministry. ♢ Learn practical approaches to sermon preparation, teaching, pastoral care, leadership, administration, and church ministry. ♢ Read and discuss ministry and theological resources as mutually agreed upon. ♢ Receive regular feedback regarding ministry performance, leadership, character, and growth. ♢ Attend regular staff meetings (currently monthly) ♢ Preach to the congregation on a regular basis (preferably quarterly at a minimum) Schedule & Availability ♢ The Pastoral Resident will serve on a part-time basis according to a mutually agreed-upon weekly schedule. ♢ Because ministry responsibilities vary throughout the week, the position requires reasonable flexibility for scheduled church activities, pastoral ministry opportunities, and special church events. ♢ The Senior Pastor and Pastoral Resident will regularly review the position's workload and priorities to ensure that expectations remain appropriate for a part-time position.
