This role combines pastoral presence with practical support, helping individuals navigate health systems, access services, and connect with resources that strengthen physical, emotional, and spiritual well‑being. Outreach & Community Engagement
- Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach strategy that expands First Shiloh's visibility and impact in Buffalo.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, health agencies, schools, and neighborhood groups.
- Represent the church at community events, health fairs, and collaborative initiatives.
- Coordinate volunteer teams for outreach activities, service projects, and community support efforts.
- Identify emerging community needs and recommend ministry responses. 2. Health Navigation & Wellness Support
- Assist individuals and families in understanding and accessing health services, including primary care, mental health resources, insurance options, and preventive programs.
- Provide one‑on‑one guidance to help members navigate appointments, referrals, and follow‑up care.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of local health providers, social‑service agencies, and community‑based programs.
- Develop workshops, seminars, and educational sessions on health, wellness, and disease prevention.
- Support the church's Health Ministry and collaborate with medical professionals within the congregation. 3. Ministry Leadership & Pastoral Presence
- Offer compassionate listening, encouragement, and spiritual support to individuals seeking assistance.
- Participate in worship services, prayer gatherings, and pastoral initiatives as requested by the Senior Pastor.
- Help integrate health and wellness themes into the church's broader ministry life.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions. 4. Program Development & Administration
- Track outreach and health‑navigation activities, documenting outcomes and community impact.
- Prepare reports for the Senior Pastor, church leadership, and grant‑funding partners (if applicable).
- Assist in developing budgets, proposals, and resource plans for outreach and wellness initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, privacy standards, and reporting requirements Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Ministry, Community Development, or a related field.
- Experience working in faith‑based or nonprofit environments.
- Familiarity with Buffalo's East Side community and its health equity challenges.
