About Us Comer Shuford is a locally trusted General Contractor based in Greensboro, North Carolina that specializes in custom homes, additions, whole house renovations, as well as general kitchen and bathroom remodels. We're looking for a Field Assistant to join our growing team. The Field Assistant provides hands-on support across active residential construction and remodeling projects. This position is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and organized job sites; assisting with material delivery and removal; completing punch-list and warranty items; and performing a variety of general construction tasks. The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on individual who takes pride in quality workmanship, pays attention to detail, and can work independently while also supporting the Project Manager. This role requires someone who is comfortable working in occupied homes, interacting professionally with homeowners and subcontractors, and jumping in wherever needed to keep a project moving forward. Responsibilities Punch List & Finish Work Complete residential construction punch-list items and warranty work. Perform minor framing, drywall repairs, painting and touch-up work. Make minor repairs and corrections identified during project inspections. Identify incomplete or deficient work and communicate issues to the Project Manager. Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail. Job Site Maintenance Keep construction sites clean, organized, and safe throughout the project. Perform daily and periodic job-site clean-up. Remove construction debris and maintain appropriate trash and recycling areas. Sweep, vacuum, mop, and clean surfaces as appropriate during various stages of construction. Protect finished surfaces, flooring, cabinetry, and other completed work. Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in an organized manner. Assist with site preparation and job-site shutdown at the end of each workday. Material & Equipment Support Pick up and deliver materials, supplies, tools, and equipment to job sites. Load, secure, transport, and unload materials safely. Operate a heavy-duty truck while pulling a trailer. Assist with loading and unloading construction materials and debris. Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of company vehicles and trailers. Assist with equipment and material inventory as needed. Communication & Professionalism Represent the company professionally when interacting with homeowners, subcontractors, vendors, and neighbors. Communicate job-site conditions, concerns, material needs, and completed work to the Project Manager. Maintain a professional, courteous, and solution-oriented attitude. Respect homeowners' property, privacy, and living spaces. Follow company procedures and project-specific instructions Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean or acceptable driving record. Demonstrated ability to safely drive a heavy-duty pickup truck while towing a trailer. Previous residential construction, remodeling, maintenance, or handyman experience preferred. Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to lift, carry, and move construction materials and equipment. Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions. Dependable, punctual, and willing to take initiative. Physical Requirements This position is physically active and requires the ability to: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods. Lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment. Safely use hand and power tools. Work from ladders and perform work at varying heights. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds or more. Work in unfinished construction areas, including areas with dust, noise, heat, cold, and other typical construction conditions.
