10am -10pm Sat and Sun Once a Month 2-10pm Monday - Friday PRN The Residential Counselor provides supervision, support, and direct care to adolescent Girls (ages 14-18) in a structured residential setting in Lancaster, South Carolina. This role promotes residents' safety, well-being, and personal growth by implementing individualized service plans, teaching independent living and life skills, modeling positive behaviors, and fostering a safe, supportive, trauma-informed environment. Working collaboratively, the Residential Counselor will help build stability, encourage healthy development, and prepare residents for successful transitions into the community. Typical Responsibilities and Duties Be knowledgeable and supportive of the client's goals; provide feedback to the team regarding the strengths of clients and their families, as well as the challenges that they face in meeting their goals; Maintain a professional attitude under all foreseen and unforeseen circumstances; Assist in the preparation of food for clients; Maintain a "home-like" atmosphere that is supportive of the developmental needs of the clients; Accompany clients to and from outings, religious functions, medical appointments and events scheduled by the Director; Assist clients with following the rules of New Directions, to include, documenting on service notes and point sheet, and general housekeeping of the home; Support the client's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts and document your interventions on service notes; Administer medications and document and communicate medication reactions or concerns; Provide guidance to clients in making positive decisions which will contribute the achievement of their goals; Attend trainings to enhance skills and knowledge. Working Conditions Work in a structured residential group home environment requiring flexibility to respond to changing resident needs and crisis situations. Transport residents to educational, medical, therapeutic, recreational, and community-based appointments and activities as needed. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and actively participate in recreational and physical activities with residents.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age High School diploma or GED Experience working with adolescents. Must have a valid Driver's License with driving experience; Must clear all criminal background checks initially and annually; Must have a bank account for Direct Deposit.
