We are looking for a kind, dependable, energetic college-age female to provide companionship, mentoring, and community support for a sweet 21-year-old young woman with developmental disabilities. We are looking for someone who can develop a positive, peer-like relationship with her while helping her build life skills, independence, confidence, and social skills in real-world settings. •Family home is located within Concord Station, address above is not accurate to keep the consumers' address private. Will provide address once we are at the Interview Steps• About Her She is 21 and loves: Books and bookstores MoviesBowlingHorse/equine therapyChurch and young-adult activitiesGoing out in the community and spending time with others Schedule & Activities The position would include accompanying her to regular activities, including: Schedule of the Following Days and Times each week; Thursday evenings: Young adult activities at churchSaturdays:
Bowling Once per week: Horse therapy There may also be opportunities for additional outings such as going to the movies, bookstores, restaurants, shopping, or other age-appropriate community activities. An important part of this position is helping her practice skills naturally while out in the community, including: Starting and maintaining conversations Making friends and interacting with peers Appropriate social boundaries Ordering food and making purchases Handling money and paying for items Making choices and expressing preferences Following schedules and being prepared for activities Increasing independence in community settings Problem-solving when things don't go as planned Practicing age-appropriate social and life skills Building confidence and self-advocacy The goal is to support her independence rather than do things for her whenever she is capable of participating herself. Who Would Be a Great Fit? This could be an excellent position for a college student studying:Psychology Social Work Special Education Education Occupational Therapy Nursing Speech/Language Recreational Therapy ABA or a related field Previous experience with individuals with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or other special needs is strongly preferred. We are looking for someone who is: Warm, patient, encouraging, and fun Dependable and consistent Comfortable providing guidance and supervision in the community Able to encourage independence while providing assistance when needed Comfortable helping teach and reinforce life and social skills Able to maintain appropriate boundaries while developing a genuine relationship A safe and responsible driver Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation Our biggest priority is finding the right personality match—someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with her and can become a trusted, consistent mentor and companion in her life.
