General Statement of Duties Provides supportive functions for social services programs. Duties vary by assignment and may include a combination of clerical work, fieldwork, transportation, customer service, and benefits eligibility functions. Exercises independent judgement, discretion, initiative, tact, courtesy, and discretion with program participants, families, children, and the general public. Essential Duties The case aide is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day tasks to ensure that case management services in benefits programs are provided in a timely, effective manner. The case aide is required to maintain a flexible, organized and efficient work schedule and is subject to work extended hours and possibly weekends. Employees in this role must exercise independent judgement, discretion, and initiative in completing assignments as well as considerable tact, courtesy, and discretion with program participants, families, children, and the general public.
Essential Duties Program duties:
- Office-based responsibilities:
- Assist clients in completing forms and applications for benefits.
- Contacts clients for requested/needed information and responds to routine questions in person, e-mail or by telephone
- Refer clients to appropriate social services and resources.
- Works in various systems & databases to conduct searches for information for initial applications, renewals, and re-certification and/or update information for the agency's SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, childcare, energy assistance, PIPP, cooling assistance, heating assistance, and crisis assistance programs.
- Performs clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, creating and mailing letters, managing reports and scanning/uploading information to client electronic files.
- Supports case management activities by maintaining accurate records & documentation
- Attends unit, division and agency meetings and trainings
- Other opportunities:
- Participate in community events to share information about public benefits programs and facilitate applications and process case-related paperwork.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Participate in emergency shelter duty operations if shelters are activated by the County Manager.
Additional Information May require a valid driver's license to perform assigned duties at various locations.

Minimum Requirements High school Diploma, and one (1) year administrative/customer service experience, preferably in human services, social services, or related field; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
