Job Description
assigned responsibilities. Follow participant rights, confidentiality, privacy, safety, emergency, incident-reporting, and other South Adult Services policies and procedures. Follow applicable State of Alaska requirements and Home and Community-Based Services expectations applicable to the program. Perform other reasonable program duties necessary to support participants and the daily operation of South Adult Services. What We Are Looking For The successful candidate should be: Creative and enthusiastic Friendly, patient, compassionate, and respectful Comfortable speaking in front of and leading groups Able to motivate and engage people with different personalities and abilities Dependable and organized Able to develop new activity ideas rather than relying on the same activities every day Comfortable working as part of a team Able to communicate professionally with participants, families, coworkers, management, and community partners Sensitive to participant dignity, independence, personal choice, and individual preferences Able to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality Education and Experience Education or experience in recreation, activities programming, social services, human services, education, gerontology, psychology, healthcare, hospitality, community services, disability services, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience working with older adults, adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities, adults receiving Home and Community-Based Services, or other individuals requiring daytime support is highly desirable. Relevant life experience and demonstrated ability to successfully organize and lead meaningful group activities may also be considered. Physical and Job Requirements The position requires the ability to remain active throughout the workday, move throughout the facility, prepare activity areas, assist with activities, and occasionally lift or move program supplies and equipment. The employee must be able to respond appropriately to participant needs and emergency situations and complete required training applicable to the position. The Activities Coordinator plays a central role in making that happen.
